Jumbo Cornish Cross chickens are a hybrid breed specifically developed for meat production. They are a cross between the commercial Cornish chicken and a White Rock chicken. Here's a breakdown of what they are known for:  

Key Characteristics:

• Rapid Growth: They are known for their exceptionally fast growth rate. Cockerels can reach around 6 lbs and hens around 4.5 lbs in approximately 6 weeks. They can grow to a live weight of over 6 lbs by 6 weeks, and potentially 8-11 lbs if raised longer (around 10 weeks or more). 
• Excellent Feed Conversion: They efficiently convert feed into body mass, requiring less feed to produce more meat compared to other breeds. Roughly 2 lbs of feed can produce 1 lb of live weight.
• Meat Production: They are primarily raised for their meat, known for being tender, juicy, and flavorful, with broad breasts. They are the dominant breed in the commercial meat chicken market.  
• Uniformity: They tend to grow uniformly with minimal difference in weight, making processing more consistent.
